NBRR had the honor of hosting the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) at New Bedford Research & Robotics as they announced over $11 million in ocean technology grants through their new Ocean Innovation Network.

One of the largest awards — $2.13M to the New Bedford Ocean Cluster — will directly support renovations at our Purchase Street site, maritime business “incubator” operations, and provide cutting-edge equipment to accelerate the growth of ocean tech startups right here at NBRR.

Founder and Executive Director Mark Parsons had the opportunity to lead a tour of our developing facility following the announcement. This milestone underscores New Bedford’s role as a hub for ocean innovation, clean energy, and the future of offshore wind — strengthening the city’s place at the heart of America’s blue economy. According to MassCEC CEO Emily Reichert, New Bedford has a “special place” in their hearts.

We’re grateful to @masscec for their continued investment and for recognizing New Bedford as a leader in ocean technology and climate innovation.
