Jane McKeag

Education Lead

Jane’s background as a mixed-media artist has informed her teaching and curricula development for PreK-16 schools, colleges, and museums over the past twenty-plus years. Her research focused on the power of teachers’ engagement with community sites and organizations for resources essential to adolescent students’ intellectual, social, and creative growth.

Jane values opportunities to explore, with special care, the relationships between the natural world and human-made things, spaces, and systems. She believes that young people deserve the invitation to develop their unique voices and articulate their visions within this tension through material exploration.

Jane most recently taught Art and Technology in Fall River Public Schools and is continually inspired by walkable, beautiful New Bedford, where she lives with her family and Millie the dog.

Jane has a BFA in painting from MassArt, a Master of Arts in Teaching from RISD, and a Doctorate in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
