History. Innovation. Social Impact.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide access to frontier technologies for entrepreneurial and social impact, through education and skill creation, economic empowerment and corporate engagement.
Our Story
Creating opportunity. Channeling innovation. Fostering collaboration. Building community. These are essential elements to economic empowerment and growth. And at New Bedford Research & Robotics (NBRR) we’ve designed an ecosystem to support and cultivate these elements by bringing people with diverse experiences and interests together to ideate, innovate and succeed.
The uniqueness of our ecosystem is in its ability to create opportunities for cross-sector collaboration. This interconnected model brings university research, industry R&D, startup incubation, workforce development, STEM education and community engagement under one roof. The result is a pipeline from classroom to boardroom where people can intersect and collaborate to do remarkable things. It’s where curiosity gets sparked, knowledge and skills are gained and ideas are launched. Since arriving in New Bedford in 2021, NBRR has created jobs and incubated start-ups, partnered with companies from aerospace to blue tech, developed a robust slate of community programming and created a STEM curricula that engages hundreds of learners annually.
As a non-profit with over a decade of experience, we’ve taken what we’ve learned about technology, creativity, and community to the South Coast of Massachusetts. We chose New Bedford to be our home because of its abundance of local talent, its engaged community, the city’s rich cultural and industrial history, and its new emerging markets. At our Purchase Street headquarters, our 33,000 square foot facility is a prime location to showcase New Bedford as a powerhouse of innovation and create a venue where community and industry come together and thrive.
At NBRR we are transforming how people think about technology and their place in tomorrow’s economy. And we know from experience that when people share knowledge and talent, and see a future where they can participate, extraordinary impact is possible.
