STEA3M Programming
Preparing Young Scholars for the Future of Work
Showing Learners That
Their Potential Has No Bounds
At New Bedford Research & Robotics we do STEM with a twist. We call it STEA3M and our “A3” packs a lot of power. That’s because we understand that preparing learners to be workforce-ready cannot be achieved with science, technology, education and math alone. By emphasizing the 3 A’s as well–“Arts” (creativity), “Access” to frontier technologies, and “Applied” knowledge–learners can be transformed into the skilled and creative critical thinkers the 21st century workforce requires.
Through its partnerships with local institutions, NBRR provides a much needed resource to supplement existing STEM education in our community. Our collaborative curriculum is aligned with school standards and blends in-class and on-site instruction in a professional laboratory environment. Learners engage not only with instructors but with engineers, researchers, designers and artists on projects that cultivate collaboration, problem solving, creativity and critical thinking. Whether they discover an interest or a career path, learners who participate in our STEA3M programs know that their potential has no bounds.
And it’s not just about the learners; it’s about the educators too. That’s why NBRR also provides professional development opportunities for institutions that want to develop STEA3M programming to ensure their teachers have the essential skills to complement instruction.
